Welcome to a new series featuring Dormied with Friends. In this week’s shallowing series, Dormied With Friends helps to unscramble the noise behind the benefits of Shallowing your club. Dormied takes 5 of the most influential Golf instructors on Youtube to help describe in detail the topic of shallowing your shaft during the downswing . In this series you will learn the true definition of shallowing, why these instructors all teach shallowing, how proper application of shallowing your club benefits your golf swing, and lastly, drills and feels to ensure you are applying this new concept correctly.
Keys to Shallowing Correctly
Clubface – A steep swing is often a reaction to an open club face. This is always a good place to start, as explained by Clay Ballard in his shallowing video.
Body – As discussed by Chris Ryan and George Gankas, the body’s natural movement should help shallow the shaft. This does assume that you have correct upper and lower body tilts as well as a tensionless swing, especially in transition.
Arms – By selecting a queue in your forearms or in your wrists, you’ll get instant feedback on whether you’re shallow or not. Check out Al’s recommendation for using a watch to check if you’re shallowing effectively.
