Golf Lessons – Chipping from a tight lie

Golf Lessons with Derek Hooper – Too many players find it difficult to chip the ball onto the green from tight lies – lies where the grass is very short and the surface may even be quite firm. Players will typically try to lift these shots into the air, hit the shot thin and watch helplessly as the ball runs through the green and off the other side.

There is a way to play these shots where you can successfully chip the ball close very often. It is simply a matter of using your wedges the way they were designed to be used and then practicing the technique a little so that you can gain some feel for distance.

In this video I explain how to play chip shots from tight lies and how you can practice this skill to get the ball close to the hole more often.
