It is impossible to swing the club straight down the target line. Because we’re standing next to the target line and not directly above it we swing level and flat toward the target line and only touch the target line for about 8″. If you try to move your club down the target line longer than that you’ll never hit the ball straight. The golf club is engineered to be swung at an angle from the side of the target line.
