When developing our backswing, many golfers rotate their hips too far, causing their golf swing rotation to negatively affect their overall shot.
While looking to improve our striking, golfers must develop a body rotation that compliments their overall golf swing, especially the movements produced during their back swing.
Over extending our hips during the backswing makes it impossible for most golfers to open themselves up to their intended target upon eventual impact.
Lacking the ability to open up one hips at this crucial moment of our golf swing essentially diminishes the success of our shot.
In addition to rotating our hips too far during our swings, there are several body rotation mistakes that golfers may be committing on the golf course. Capturing our golf swing on video will give a clear indication of what mistakes may be hindering our golf swing from reaching our intended target during play.
Our lead knee should be flexed during the entirety of our backswing, prohibiting our hips from freely rotating during the swing. From our golf setup through to the top of our swing, the width our knees take should be maintained to produce an accurate shot.
A golfer’s belt buckle should always point towards the ball during our entire back swing, with our belt buckle then pointing towards our intended target during the downswing by time we make impact with the golf ball.
Important to any golf swing, the rotation taken in the hips of a golfer provides the overwhelming majority of the power found in their shot. Maintaining proper structure in our body rotation, especially in our hips, will ensure that our shots are struck as efficiently as possible.
While working together with several parts of our body during our swings, hip rotation can be considered one of the most vital actions taken by a golfer in motion.
Generating power, control, and accuracy, ensuring that our bodies rotate correctly during out backswings will ensure that we produce our golf shots as intended, every time.
