Tiger Woods – Low Chip

The back foot low ball is a shot you’d like to have in your short game arsenal! I often see its “difficulty” blown out of proportion. It’s as easy as it looks with good basic technique (if you struggle your technique probably stinks to be honest, which is good because it’s NOT just your ability! You can fix it up). You don’t have to get the hands a mile forward. You can get the shaft a little vertical if you’d like (even more than Tiger here), and have a slight descending blow. No need to stick the club hard into the ground. If you DO struggle trying to play the low shot this way, I recommend for most to use a lower lofted club like a 9 iron and play it more middle/neutral. NOT having these shots spin/grab has a lot of value for predictability and proximity in a “missed shot”. 💪 Many ways to get it done in the short game but I always recommend playing the lowest shot reasonable (based on situation) as you’ll use a more minimal motion where less can tend to go wrong and you can get your “misses” up and down.
