The position of the club face affects the direction of the golf ball and the loft on the club dictates the overall trajectory. When performing any short game shot to create any spin and consistency, the loft on the club has to be maintained to help achieve this.
One of the biggest faults you see, is golfers gripping the club too strong. This causes the club face to go back in a slightly strongish position, the end result is a low ball flight with not much control.
To combat this, grip the club in a slightly weaker position as opposed to strong. This will encourage the club to have an increase of dynamic loft at impact and help achieve that high shot, with an even softer landing.
