Great players and tall players have great arm swings and upper body swings. Their club stays on plane and the club faces square. So, what they’re usually working on is lower body stuff. With amateurs, they have a hard time getting it on plane and with the club faced square.
A great way to sequence your arm swing and get a proper arm swing is to do a “Feet Together Drill”. What this is going to do, is allow you to not sway off the golf ball. You won’t be able to move your center point, your feet will be completely together, you’ll just do little half swings and 3/4 swings with a nine iron or pitching wedge. What this will do is give you a really good feeling swinging around the center point and getting a proper arm release. You won’t be able to overpower the golf ball with your shoulders or your legs, it will just give you a great release point and you should be up to hitting a nice straight golf ball.
It should look something like this… Try the feet together drill and I know your release will improve.
