Get Out Of A Difficult Situation With Ease – Josh Zander

Today I want to talk to you about the bellied wedge; it’s that shot where your ball doesn’t miss a green by much and ends up right up against the heavy fringe and it’s really difficult to get access to the back of the ball. It looks like a difficult situation, but I’m going to show you a real easy way to get out of it.
The nice thing about taking a sand wedge is that you can use your putting stroke and the sand wedge glides right through the grass. What I want you to do is hit slightly above the equator of the ball and literally top it on purpose and have the ball just roll onto the green. So, when I set up, I set up with my putting grip, I raise the club up slightly above the equator of the ball and then I just use my putting stroke to putt the top of the ball. You can see the ball kind of hops and then rolls forward. Use this to get some practice to get your distance control, it’s really a pretty easy shot.
