Everyone wants to hit the ball farther and have effortless power. The idea here is for you guys to go on a golf course and make a swing that feels good and smooth and you get more speed out of it. The moves in this video should just happen and create some speed by themselves, they won’t require you to “force” more speed..

Part number one of creating effortless power and more speed is backswing related. When I make a backswing, the more vertical that I get the shaft the lighter the club will feel. if I get the club more horizontal, the club is heavier. When you want to make creating power easier, you want to swing an object that is lighter.

I always talk about equal and opposite reaction reaction, and it’s true most of the time if I go back and I get the club head outside my hands and I get the shaft going, very vertical, what’s going to happen is I’m going to have a opposite effect during my downswing. Sort of like a whipping action. The more I can make the club “loop”, the more speed I’m going to produce.

Now a lot of you will do this move and notice more speed, but you might have absolutely no control as to where the ball goes in the beginning. Sometimes you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Look at the long drive guys on the Golf Channel. They hit the ball a mile, but they hit it all over the place.

Okay, so part number two of creating effortless speed and power is how the pressure and weight work in the feet. At setup, the pressure in your feet should be 50/50. You are allowed – and should – shift pressure in your feet to create speed and power. I shift pressure into my right foot during the backswing and then shift pressure off my right foot into my left foot during the downswing. While you are shifting pressure in your feet you should not moving your mass over the body. By no means should you make a backswing and move your whole body way off the ball.

One thing long drive guys also do is they get “taller” or extend in the backswing. If you want effortless power, you can use the ground to help create that. Where I would want you to keep your intention is shift right and get taller.

Number one, get the shaft more vertical. Get the club head more behind your hands. Create that whip effect. No doubt about it that creates more speed with less effort. Number two, get the pressure moving in your feet. No doubt about that either. Now if you put those two together, that would be the ultimate.
