“Cheats” & drills for more power
By adding more depth to your backswing, your arms will be able to come from a deeper position in your downswing, which will produce a more inside path (creating a desired draw flight to maximize distance). However, by adding depth to your backswing, you’re at risk of bottoming out the club too early on the way down. One of the cheats to prevent this is to move the ball slightly back in your stance. In your normal stance, step an inch further towards the lead side. By doing this, you are managing your low point and can still achieve that ball to turf contact every time. Another cheat you can do is slightly raising your left heel up on the backswing. This will enable more rotation if you tend to be a little stiff and you’ll notice that your head will also rotate slightly. To practice this, take a spare glove and put it underneath your lead arm. As you do your practice swings, make sure you feel the full range of motion from your backswing to your follow through. Try hitting a ball with the glove underneath your lead arm and feel that rotation.

Why a “draw” is ideal for seniors
Considering the lack in mobility, you may find that your swing may have lost some power and speed. By hitting a draw, your ball has a tendency to roll out further towards the target. This will give you the extra yardage you may need, especially for those par 5’s and long par 4’s.

Get most out of your irons, hybrid and driver
When practicing with your hybrid and driver, it becomes more difficult to do the glove drill considering it may feel a bit restricting to your swing. Make sure to keep in mind that in-to-out flight path that encourages a drawing flight path, which will help lower your scores on the course.
