What is the proper swing plane? You hear coaches and instructors say: Swing Down, Swing Level and there’s even a new instructional fad where they say to swing slightly up in order to mimic the swing paths of Big League-rs in slow motion.

Which is right? Well we answer this question in the latest video by Pro Speed Baseball and we also share with you the One “Simple” Swing Thought Secret that will you your bat on plane every single time, no matter where the pitch.

The swing plane can be defined as tracing the tip of the bat from the end of the load stride position.

If the hands are relaxed and take a direct path to the ball, the bat will fall on plane every single time. This means that swing down, swing level and swing slightly up are all completely irrelevant.

Proper Swing Plane is a byproduct created by proper hand path and body movement. It is not created by attempting to control or manipulate the bat through the zone.

If we understand two simple terms: Force and Mass; we can understand exactly why the proper swing plane is a byproduct rather a manipulation.

When swinging a baseball bat, the FORCE is the simply the forward momentum of our hands and the MASS is the sweet spot of the bat.

If we imagine a path directly from our hands to the ball, the MASS (sweet spot) is above that path. When speed is applied to the FORCE (hands) along that path, the MASS will begin to fall in order to follow the FORCE. Because of the speed created, the falling MASS will gain momentum downwards and will then dip below the hand path line and fall right on plane. This will happen every single time and you will never have to force or manipulate this position again.

So now that we understand that Swing Plane is created naturally, the One “Simple” Swing Thought Secret is: Take Relaxed Hands Straight To The Ball. It is that SIMPLE.

If we take relaxed hands, with speed, straight to the ball, the bat will fall on the proper swing plane every single time no matter where the pitch is located.

We will then go over a great drill to train you conscious and subconscious mind to be aware of the positioning of your hands in relationship to the ball. This drill will help you start to understand where your hands are so that you can take them on the most efficient path to the ball.

Keep working hard!!

I look forward to helping you improve your baseball in the future!
