On June 13, graduates, their families and friends will gather from around the world to join in celebrating the Class of 2020 in the University of Washington’s first ever live, interactive Commencement webcast.
SCHEDULE
• 12:00 noon – watch parties begin.
• 12:30 – pre-ceremony show, The Purple Carpet, with popular local anchors, Gaard Swanson and UW alum Erin Mayovsky.
• 1:30 – Graduate procession begins (don’t be late!)
• 2:00 – Commencement ceremony begins.
This day will be historic. Never before has every student marching in the Commencement opening procession been shown on the screen, walking behind their school’s gonfalon.
Never before has every student been able to create a slide with their photo, school, college and degree, and a comment, quote or memory – a card that can be shared with everyone viewing the ceremony.
Never before have graduates been able to participate in the ceremony with families and friends in their homes or join together in watch rooms to share the experience with other families from around the world. (Be sure to share your camera link with us so we can take you live into the theatre.)
Degrees will be conferred and tassels turned. There will be many other surprises that you won’t want to miss. We’re bringing in artists and experts from coast to coast to make this Commencement special. It will be surprisingly intimate, yet global in scope.
So take your place in UW history and be there when the tympani rolls and the announcer proclaims, “Welcome to the 145th Commencement Ceremony honoring the Class of 2020.”
Congratulations and GO DAWGS!
