This is the first golf swing lag drill I want you to do and the best way to do it. If you haven’t seen my first tip “The Secret To Getting Lag In Your Golf Swing” then I suggest watching that one first here:

That tip gives you the understanding what you need to do and how to get the maximum hinge angle at the top. Without this angle, you will never get lag in your golf swing.

This lag drill focuses on the top of your backswing. That’s right. Everyone claims to have the best lag drill, yet, they don’t even talk about the top of the backswing. This is where it all starts.

So you need to get the top of the backswing wrist angle set first to its maximum. This is the best drill to allow you to do that. Once you do, you can work on maintaining the lag angle in the downswing.

For now, stick with a mid iron, but into the future, you can do this drill with driver or other clubs too. Stay focused only on this for now. As you start to set your backswing, you can then move on to the downswing by doing lag drill 2 and 3 that I will post in the future.
