It’s very difficult to putt when you have a lot independent motion with your arms that aren’t connected to your thoracic spine. The way to set up is to take your grip and hold the putter up in the air, letting it fall down to where your arms rest on the side of your rib cage.
Bending from there, you feel a little bit of connection in there, which allows you to keep your arms connected to your body in the stroke.
