How to Become More Consistent Hitting Irons?

Gary has trouble hitting his 9 iron the same yardage and asks Maria Palozola, of how he can become more consistent with the distance control of his irons. Maria first wonders if Gary might be using graphite shafts and explains that graphite that was cheaply made or made with older technology can be inconsistent. And that this is the reason you find very few Pros using graphite shafts.

Maria then suggests to focus on controlling your rate of rotation through the ball. She describes how your rate of rotation is like changing gears and that if you take a 7 iron and try to swing at 30 mph, then 60 mph, then 100 mph, and then dial it back down in the reverse order, you can begin to get a feel for the rate of rotation you typically use in your golf swing. By doing this you will learn to control how much force you are putting into your shots and become more consistent with your rate or rotation, and therefore the yardages you hit your irons.
