So I suggest you …
In order to create the trajectory shift …
The goal of the …
From the top.
This is a game I play with Jordan called the Heart Array.
The reason it’s called the Heart Array is
I’m asking him to create three different trajectories
with three different shapes.
When you overlay these on one screen shot,
it looks like a heart that’s coming in and falling
right back to the target.
The goal of this game is to hit all six ball flights
in as few shots as possible.
Jordan can go six for six.
In order to create the three trajectories,
I’m altering ball positions.
If I take these three balls and adjust my stance,
I’m going to use the back ball as the low trajectory,
the front ball as the high trajectory,
and the mid trajectory is right in the middle of those.
To achieve that shot shape and fade,
I’m going to align my body left of target line,
assuming the camera is the target line.
Then I’m going to be swinging along my body line
and holding the club face open just a little bit
so the ball starts left of target and then curves back.
Conversely, to achieve the draw,
I’m going to do the opposite.
I’m going to aim my body to the right of target line,
again camera is the target line.
And I’m going to swing to the right of target line,
finish a little higher on that ball.
As I close the club face is finishing higher,
it’s going to turn back towards the target line.
While I challenge Jordan to hit six different shot shapes
and all land within a -feet proximity to the hole,
for you the amateur golfer,
I want you to start with two shots
the medium draw and the medium fade.
Let’s also widen out our acceptable range
to feet away from the hole.
Continue to hit those two shots,
measuring your success based on the number of attempts
it takes you to achieve that goal.
As you’re able to achieve that goal
in maybe two or three shots,
then start to expand your repertoire
to create low trajectory by moving that ball position back,
then ultimately high trajectory
by moving that ball position forward,
all the while trying to reduce the number of shots
it takes you to achieve the Heart Array.
All right, that’s all I got.
