Putting Stroke Drill – Golf lesson and golf tips on a putting drill that will help you groove a consistent putting stroke.
► Good Putt Stroke Drill – Video Golf Lesson Summary
This putting drill will help in grooving a good putting stroke, one that goes back and through the ball in a straight line. Similarly to a dart or a bowling ball throw you will want to see your putting stroke go back straight and through, keeping your putter in line for the longest possible time.
This putting drill consists of placing two clubs side by side on the ground, with the ball in between them. The club shafts should be parallel to the target line and far enough from each other to allow free movement of the putter’s clubhead, or about 6 inches.
Set up to the ball and practice a few strokes back, making sure that your putter goes back square, staying in the middle of your two clubs on the ground.
Execute a few putts from this setup. The clubs on the ground should help you quickly detect if your putter goes on the inside (or outside) of the straight line you are seeking for your putting stroke. Keeping your putter on line in such a way should allow you to sink more putts on the course.
