The inside takeaway is one of the most Common problems in golf and it is something that I’ve had in my swing since I’ve started.
Raymond Floyd, Peter Senior and a lot of great golfers have had this move but by and large I think it is very detrimental to a golf swing. I believe that the inside takeaway is the first step to being STUCK and over the top. It takes a lot of athletic correction to get the face back to square once you’ve sucked it inside. I think about 90 percent of amatuer golfers take the club back low and under their hands and about 5 percent of pros take it back under their hands (from the down the line view).
I contacted Chris Ryan PGA from youtube.com/chrisryangolf about WHY the inside takeaway can be so destructive to a golf swing and the best way to get rid of it. I showed him a video of my takeaway and swing and we got to work.
Let us know in the comments if you have any questions for Chris and if you have struggled with the inside takeaway before.
