There are a lot of reasons why you might have a steep downswing pattern. You might have a steep downswing because of your takeaway. You might have a decent takeaway, but you really pull your arms and hands down faster than the top of the backswing. You might go up to the top and your right elbow goes way out and it stays way out when you come down. I don’t know why you’re steep without seeing your swing, but I do know some feels you can use to fix It.

Regardless of why you’re doing it, you can start the process of getting rid of it by getting a feeling of where the club head and the weight of the club is in space. If I want to shallow my downswing, during the early transition phase I want to feel the weight of the club much more. I feel that the club head is much more behind my hands and I also feel that it’s lower in space.

To start to practice with that, I go up to the top of my backswing. I’ll do three swings without a. ball. Up to the top of my backswing – and in the slowest motion possible – I’m going to get the club head behind my hands and get all the way down to impact into follow through. What I want in the beginning is super slow motion..

After we do three swings with no ball, we’re going to start the process of doing swings with a ball. if you do this correctly, you will probably hit several fat and thin shots in the beginning because your brain has absolutely no idea how to get the club from back here to the ball, so your low point will probably be behind the ball.

You will do three swings with no ball, slow motion,. Then you will do three swings with a ball, slow motion and hitting, and then you will gradually add some speed. Now, let’s say I add some speed and I’m going pretty full and then I get steep again. What do I do? I slow it down! I’m doing the same thing. Maybe I’ll come back 10, 20 percent speed and build my way up again.

This will work in terms of showing your downswing. Wrap your head around the idea of where the weight of the club is and use that as a feel.
