You need to allow your body to respond to the objective. It’s so common sense but for some reason in the golf instruction industry it’s ignored or overlooked? If you swing an axe like you most likely do with a golf club, you would be terrible at cutting down trees and probably loses a limb. Also, Alex Fortey shares his experience and big mistake when using the pre-set drill made famous by Nick Faldo, Nick Price, and David Leadbetter. So try this very simple golf swing tip and see how when you allow momentum to start your golf swing you will be hitting the golf ball longer and straighter more often. Plus as a benefit, it will really help those moments when you are tense.
Today’s video Alex Fortey talk’s with Shawn Clement about allowing the weight of the club, the weight of the tool to dictate.
0:36 Shawn Clement, I had a hammer and I want it to nail. One shot into a board, I wouldn’t exactly take it back a couple of inches and force it down, I take it back and really the wight of the instrument tag that. Especially if I have to do that all day.
052: If I was a lumberjack, The green lumberjack is going to grab the axe and yank it around like a pit bull with a rag doll.
So the seasoned lumberjack use the weight of his axe to deliver the blow.
Now we’re going to do two things.
1) For those of you who got floating eyes. This is going to serve you extremely well. 1:22 Notice, I have a ball on the tee it’s like a little twig. So I set up with a six-pound axe. There’s no way that little twig is gonna stop the weight of the axe.
I take the weight of the axe and I heave it into the backswing.
2:06 Notice, how my body moved out of the way because If I don’t move the body and I heave the axe. Now I can use the weight of the axe to cut through that tee, see the extraordinary.
2:49 The twig in my mind’s eye that’s below so my eyes actually between the club and the ball and I can see the leading edge of my club ready to cut through that tee.
Even this task also related with to the position in the backswing.
This direction where you are in your backswing. So if you go to the top of the backswing that feels like I’m gonna take out my pinkie toe on the way out to the right that feels.
So If you orientate the backswing to the task you’ll find where you need to improve your golf.
