Chipping Distance Control – Different Techniques to Chip it Close

Chip Shot Distance Control – Golf lesson and golf tips on how to control the distance of your chip shots.

► Chipping Distance Control – Video Golf Lesson Summary

Use the length of your golf swing to control the distance of your chip shots. Develop these three chipping shot techniques to chip it close.

The first height will keep the club at the height of your ankles during the backswing and the follow through. That swing will produce a very soft chip shot that won’t travel very far but will be useful when you don’t have much green to work with.

The next height will take the club to your knee height during the backswing and the follow through. This swing will take the ball further up into the air and it will roll some distance upon landing.

The third height will take the club to your hip height. This swing will take the ball further up in the air still and will roll some distance more upon landing. This shot is useful when the flag is further away and you have a lot of green to work with.

Practice all three shot techniques using the same club and note the ball distance produced by each swing height. Apply the knowledge gained to the course when you play your next round.
