Chipping from an Uphill Lie – Golf lesson and golf tips on how to hit a chip shot on an upslope lie.

► Uphill Lie Chipping Tips – Video Golf Lesson Summary

Uphill lies can occur when the green and its surrounding area are formed in a reverse bowl, or a hilltop.

As was the case for the downhill lie, such a lie will impact your balance. Indeed in this case your weight will tend to be over you lower – back – foot which is not ideal when chipping.

And in reverse to the downhill lie, an uphill lie adds effective loft on the club which results in a ball that shoots up more and rolls less than normally. In order to counter this, use a less lofted club than you would have used normally.

In order to set up properly, line up your shoulders so that they are parallel – or close – to the slope. Try to do this while keeping most of your weight on your front foot.
