Ben Hogan’s Pane of Glass

Recent Practice Sessions. I created a training aid I call Ben Hogan’s Pane of Glass to improve my Back Swing. Ben Hogan popularized the idea of a plane on which the arms swing – as the shoulder turns. This plane is best visualized as a plane of glass resting on your shoulders (see Five Lessons for Illustration of BH Pane of Glass). As per Hogan, the entire swing needs to stay BENEATH this plane – any ‘crossing’ of the plane (by hands, arms or shoulders) will shatter the glass.

In this video I demonstrate how to hit knockdown shots using a Driver to improve my swing motion, impact alignment and body rotation. The last 3 swings are full swings from various practice sessions.
