You can never go wrong with putting tips from Ben Crenshaw. Crenshaw, one of golf’s greatest putters of all-time, discusses putting in this short video with a focus not on mechanics but on feel.
Crenshaw says what most amateurs get wrong is gripping the putter much too tightly, and he explains why. “Hold the putter as a delicate instrument, because you’re doing delicate work,” he says.
He talks about one of Harvey Penick’s great quotes about putting that influenced Crenshaw, and he Gentle Ben also discusses speed vs. line. “Pace is vital,” he says.
This video is a great short clip in which a master of putting discusses his craft.
