Many pros refer to draws as less severe versions of hook shots. As hooking the golf ball usually results in missed shots and frustration, intentionally played draws are typically something that assists players in a normal course situation.

Draw shots are the polar opposite of a fade. You’ll notice many seasoned players referring to this type of shot as “drawing a shot” “hitting a draw” or “playing a draw” in conversation on the course. If you’ve ever wondered what these players meant by these phrases, now you know.
There are a variety of ways to get the ball to draw during your shot. Most golfers will benefit from experimenting with a variety of methods in order to see which works best for them. If your normal shot takes flight as a slight fade or slice, you will most likely need to further exaggerate your drawing method or even combine different ways of achieving this shot.
When training to produce draws, you should setup the shot in your routine swing stance, but with your clubface closed at address while taking your typical golf swing. Others will benefit from setting at address with their clubface aimed at the intended target in a closed stance. Experimentation with the exaggeration on these shots or even combining elements from either method will ultimately guide players in creating the ideal drawing formula.
