If you’re familiar with any tour golfer, you’ve probably noticed how easy they make striking their irons appear each weekend on television. Striking pure irons on a consistent basis requires several elements to coincide with each other in order to pull off a well composed golf swing.
While many golf instructors attempt to completely rebuild the swings of their students, George Gankas golf students learn the fundamentals of golf and adopt the changes that are needed to improve their existing game.
With amateur golfers from around the globe attesting to the improvements they’ve made through utilizing the GG Swing Method, George Gankas golf lessons have become the talk of the entire golf community.
Gankas understands that many amateurs seeking to improve their irons are often starting in the wrong place. While many focus on their setup at address, Gankas encourages players to consider eliminating their open clubface as a means to strike a better connection at impact.
Most players understand the important role their clubface plays in relation to the direction of the golf ball. If players find their clubface opens up during their swing, they’ll be forced to make several adjustments before finally connecting with the golf ball at impact.
As players try to square their clubface through their backswing, the resulting downswing transition will be sloppy and prohibit the lower body muscle groups from attaining their full power potential at impact.
One of the most common factors creating an open clubface during the backswing sequence comes as a result of poorly executed wrist flexion. If a player cups their lead wrist too much, the clubface may open up and cause a poorly composed downswing transition, which will lead to poor striking with irons.
Because positioning your wrists correctly can be hard to observe during the backswing sequence, many players utilize a full length mirror or a video recording device to see how their wrists hinge during this portion of their golf swing.
Angling your wrist in a more neutral positioning at the beginning of your backswing will ultimately keep your clubface inline with your lead arm, eliminating the need for self correction while working through the remaining sequences in your golf swing.
